Drawing inspiration from Paul Kelly, Neil Young, Slim Dusty, Bill Munroe and Hank Williams, Balyana blends Bluegrass with acoustic music styles from the 70s. Balyana features at the Coast Acoustics Music Club and has played at festivals and folk venues from Tassie to Queensland including the Cygnet Festival, Gold Coast Acoustic Music Festival, Dorrigo Bluegrass Festival and Illawarra Folk Festival.

Balyana features Rob on guitar and mandolin and Jackie on cello and fiddle. Their songs are steeped in traditional roots music about lost love, open spaces, the never ending search for greener pastures and a love of the simple things in life.Balyana means "home". The name originates from North Queensland where Rob and Jackie met and spent much of their younger years.
