COAST ACOUSTICS

Coast Acoustics was established in 2005 to provide a forum on the Gold Coast for acoustic music.  Coast Acoustics has its origins in Bluegrass music but has since expanded to include all forms of acoustic music including folk, Australiana, blues and roots.

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of Coast Acoustics are:

• Promote and enjoy acoustic music* on the Gold Coast
• Promote a greater understanding of the cultural diversity of acoustic music
• Provide opportunities for community participation in acoustic music events
• Provide opportunities for networking
• Share information about acoustic music and events
• Provide opportunities for learning and skills development in music; and
• Inspire and encourage people of all ages with an interest in music.

*Acoustic music includes traditional and contemporary folk, bluegrass, Australian bush, Blues and Roots

MEMBERSHIP

As a member you become part of a friendly club where you meet people with a common interest in music. You also rceive:

• Discounted entry fees into Coast Acoustics events
• Updates on Coast Acoustics activities and other acoustic music events throughout Australia
• pportunities to connect with broader networks of people with interests in acoustic music
• Opportunities to contribute and participate in Coast Acoustics as a performer or as an official assisting with organising events and other club activities.
• Promotional opportunities
• Opportunities to participate in workshops, jam sessions and club functions.
• Membership is subject to Committee approval.  Membership fees are as determined by the Committee and are due for renewal 30 December each year. 

PERFORMERS

It is not essential, but preference is given to performers who are members of Coast Acoustics.

Performers provide support on a voluntary basis.  They are not paid to perform.  In return for their support they receive free local exposure and publicity via various newspapers, magazines and websites.   Also, performers have the opportunity to promote their gigs, CDs and other merchandise at the event.

 

The music must be acoustic. All forms will be considered including Bluegrass, Australian Bush, Irish, Roots or Folk tunes. 

Instruments must be acoustic.  Some percussion is ok but we are not set up for drum kits or electric guitars.  Electric bass guitars are okay.

In general, your band should have at least two people. 

You should register by sending an email 2 months beforehand to make sure you don't miss out.  The program fills up quickly. Please send a bio to Balyana@bigpond.com with the following details:

If possible, please include photo that you have permission to use as promotional material for Coast Acoustics.  

Performers are encouraged to become club members.

If you are offered a spot, it will be on a voluntary basis. 

You must have your own insurance.  All care is taken to ensure the safety and comfort of players, audience and equipment, but you are responsible for ensuring you have the appropriate insurance cover as a performer.  You are responsible for looking after your own instruments, equipment and anything else you bring along to Coast Acoustics.  Please keep it in a safe place.

If confirmation is not received within a reasonable time, we will assume you cannot make it and your spot will be offered to someone else.

It is possible that venue and event times may change at short notice.  If so, players will be notified by email as soon as possible but is your responsibility to check on developments. 

Coast Acoustics will provide the PA, vocal and instrument mics, leads etc.  Please let us know if you require a bass amp to be supplied. 

The provision of food and beverages are responsibility of the venue. 

Players and audience are expected to be courteous of others and to respect the venue and its objectives. Please help by keeping the venue clean and tidy.
