NEWSLETTER - MARCH 2010

SURVEY RESULTS

Thank you to all those who filled out the survey. There were some great suggestions, which were discussed at length at the last committee meeting.

JAM SESSIONS

One of the key messages coming from the survey was to provide more opportunities for members to be actively involved at the Sunday sessions. Although the whiteboard is great, it has become so popular that we need to look for alternatives.

One suggestion was to bring back the jam sessions. So next monthe there will be an area set aside for jamming as well as the open mic. It will be very informal and everyone is welcome. Remeber to bring your instrument.

For those who like to know the rules, here is something we found on the net. Rules of Jamming.

IMPROVED PA

The committee purchased 2 new fold back speakers last month, which were put to the test at the last gig. Thanks to the wizardry of our sound man Steve Carter, the sound was fantastic.

FESTIVAL UPDATE

The committee has received over 30 submissions from people wanting to play at our festival on 19 September 2010 from Queensland, NSW, Victoria and overseas. Council have confirmed that we have Glennon Park as a venue and we have approached the Commonwealth Government for funding assistance. If anyone knows where we can get a hold of a maquee for the day, it would be a great help. Please let the comittee know if you have any suggestions.

21 MARCH OPEN MIC AND CONCERT

On 21 March Coast Acoustics brings you TroubleKarmaflow from Brisbane.

TroubleKarmaFlow (TKF) are a three-piece roots band from Brisbane who have been carving up the local scene since 2008. Having played the Caxton St Food & Wine Festival, Greenfest & opening for Iconic Aussie rock band, GANGgajang in 2009, TKF have recently recorded a live demo & continue to gig throughout South East QLD & beyond.

"TroubleKarmaFlow are the antithesis to auto tuned pretenders and lip-synching divas. Allowing the music to prove itself, the roots, folk, funk and blues fusion comes across rich, honest and powerful. " (Nate Harmon -Mayan Fox, 2010)
